Roaming Retiree

betty1
Betty Hoover, who served with CEF® of Maine from 1977 to 2002 is still involved in the ministry of training others, teaching God’s Word, and reaching children for Christ. In 1992 she left N. Maine, where she had been local CEF Director for 14.5 years and became the S. Maine Director. After six years, she reached “retirement” age but traveled back and forth to N. Maine for four years to keep the work going until a director was in place.
In 2002 she relocated back in her home state of N.C. but continued to spend summers in Maine helping with CYIA®, teaching Bible classes at camp, etc. During the school year she is involved with CEF of N.C. in school Good News Clubs® and teacher training. Here is a word from Betty:
“I praise God for the opportunities I have had to serve with CEF. Since God put a passion in my heart, I cannot give up as long as He gives strength and opportunity to serve. There is a great job to be done to build a mighty remnant of boys and girls who turn from sin to Christ as the only way of salvation and stand for Him against our godless culture, even if it means persecution.

“This summer the Lord led me to have some time at home since my schedule is very full the rest of the year.

One needs some catch-up time eventually, but it has also been some ministry time – visiting NC’s CYIA®, helping with some 5-Day Clubs®, sharing the Gospel with children in the park, and giving out tracts and speaking with some adults wherever I am. Praise Him for two children who made professions of faith and other children and adults in whose hearts seed has been sown. He has given me a special joy in my heart through this ministry and the extra time I have had to spend with Him. I am also looking forward to more ministry time in Maine as God leads.” My faithful aging sheltie, Zippy, probably won’t be with me though.
